I believe that every person possesses the capability to make the world a better place
-- it’s just a matter of getting started.
A World of Good was created from my intense desire to recognize and motivate those most in need. I’ve experienced the power of a kind word or gesture, and was looking for a way to pass along that feeling to others. AWOG cards seemed to be the perfect solution. They allow you to speak from your heart, without ever saying a word.
I used to hold back, waiting for someone to give me a word of encouragement or caring. Then I discovered the powerful feeling of goodness that occurred when I offered those words to others. You can experience that feeling too, by joining me in my mission to bring healing and hope to those who need it most – one AWOG at a time.

When you're determined to change the world like Deb Richards is, you need a high profile stage to advance your cause.
On Sunday night, Richards' crusade to create a new culture of kindness got that huge stage at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, CA. Her uniquely designed cards with encouraging and hope-filled messages were featured in the backstage gift bags of celebrity performers and presenters at the annual awards show.
For Richards, of Reading, PA, the inclusion of the cards in the Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat at Teen Choice 2006 was one of her biggest triumphs since she launched her special project called A World of Good (AWOG) in May 2006. The President and Founder of Backstage Creations, Karen Wood, is also a Reading native and operates her company in Santa Monica, CA.
Each of Richards' 25 AWOG cards contains a different phrase designed to lift the spirits of others and to remind them that someone cares. Heartfelt messages appearing on the cards include, "Reach for your dreams", "You are loved by many" and "I'm here if you need me".
Celebrities who received AWOG cards at the Teen Choice Awards, which recognize the hottest stars in film, television, music, sports and fashion, include:
Dane Cook, Jessica Simpson, Kevin Federline, Rhianna, Timbaland, Ashley Olson, Britney Spears, Brittany Murphy, Carmen Electra, Dax Shepard, Jessica Alba, Ludacris, Marlon Wayans, Paula Abdul, Snoop Dogg, Jesse McCartney, Adam Sandler, Keanu Reeves, Miley Cyrus, Mischa Barton, Nick Lachey, Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, The Cheetah Girls, Jared Padalecki as well as FOX Producers and other VIPs.
People should give AWOG cards to friends, relatives and acquaintances in need of a spiritual lift. Recipients are then supposed to pass their cards on to others who might benefit from them. Each pack of cards is numbered which enables anyone to log onto the official AWOG site, www.aworldofgood.net, and track where his card was before he received it and all of the places it has been since he passed it on.
"Giving out cards is something everyone can do," said Richards. "The people who receive them will get a good feeling."
Richards hopes the AWOG cards will strike a chord with celebrities who have the ability to positively influence our culture. She also hopes that teenagers, our future leaders, will embrace the cards and seize the opportunity to create a more compassionate society.
"AWOG gives teens the opportunity to look at someone who may not be as fortunate as they are, and emotionally connect with them by giving them a card," she said.
Each card features a lovable mascot named AWOG, while each pack of cards contains a message encouraging the buyer to do A World of Good for someone every day.
